Interior painting is mostly preparation. The paint itself takes a fraction of the time. What separates a job that still looks sharp in five years from one that shows every seam is the hour spent filling, sanding, caulking, and masking before anyone opens a can.
We paint whole houses, single rooms, ceilings, trim packages, and cabinets. We also do wallpaper removal, which in Anchorage usually turns into a drywall repair job once the paper comes off and takes the face of the board with it. We price that honestly rather than discovering it on day two.
Every job includes floor protection, furniture moved and covered, edges cut by hand, and the room put back together before we leave.

What the Job Covers
Full prep
Fill, sand, caulk, spot prime, and mask. Nail pops and settling cracks get repaired rather than painted over.
Walls, ceilings, and trim
Sprayed, rolled, or brushed depending on the surface and whether the house is occupied.
Wallpaper removal
Steam or solution, then a skim coat where the paper pulled paper facing off the drywall. Almost every removal needs some skim work.
Cabinet and door refinishing
Degrease, sand, prime, and spray with a coating that holds up to being opened every day.
Drywall repair
Holes, water stains, texture matching, and corner bead damage handled in house so you are not scheduling two contractors.
Cleanup
Furniture back, hardware reinstalled, floors clean, leftover paint labeled and left with you.
Alaska specific
Painting in a Dry Alaska Winter
Interior painting is one of the few trades that runs well here year round, which makes winter the smartest time to book it. Crews are available and you are not giving up a summer weekend.
The catch is humidity. Anchorage indoor air in January is very dry, which pulls the moisture out of a coating faster than the manufacturer assumed. That shortens open time and shows up as lap marks if the crew works a wall in the wrong order. We adjust the cut-and-roll sequence and use extender when the house is running below about 25 percent relative humidity.
The other winter note is ventilation. With windows closed, we default to low-VOC products so the house is livable the same evening.

Walkthrough and color
We measure, note repairs, and confirm sheen and color per room. Samples on the actual wall, because Anchorage light in December is not Anchorage light in June.

Protect and prep
Floors covered, furniture moved and wrapped, repairs made and sanded, surfaces primed where needed.
- 03
Paint
Ceilings first, then walls, then trim. Two coats as standard, more when a dark-to-light change requires it.

Walk and touch up
We walk the job with you in daylight, mark anything you catch, and fix it before we load out.

How long does it take to paint a house interior?

A 1,600 square foot house with walls, ceilings, and trim is usually four to six working days. Wallpaper removal adds two to four days depending on how much skim coating the walls need underneath.
Do I need to move out?

No. We work room by room and keep the house livable. We move and cover furniture ourselves and stage so you always have a bedroom and a bathroom available.
Why does wallpaper removal cost more than expected?

Because it is rarely just removal. In most Anchorage homes the wallpaper was hung directly on unprimed drywall, so pulling it tears the paper facing off the board. That surface has to be sealed and skim coated before it will take paint. We inspect a seam during the estimate and tell you which situation you are in.
Can you match my existing texture?

Yes. Knockdown, orange peel, and hand-troweled patterns are all matchable. We do a sample patch and let you look at it before we run the whole wall.
